Devils Tower National Monument
In June 1994, a total of 1,293 individuals climbed on the tower. In 1995, the Devils Tower Climbing Management Plan was implemented, and included a voluntary June closure to climbing. 1995 was the first year of the voluntary June closure to climbing.
The total climbers (1,293) in June 1994 are used as a baseline, to determine compliance with the voluntary June closure from 1995 through 2001.
