Learn More and Help Save Sacred Places:

Native American sacred sites are threatened all over the United States. The Bush Administration’s determination to drill for oil and gas, expedite coal mining and nuclear waste storage, and weaken regulations on hard-rock mining is intensifying the assault on sacred lands. To learn more about endangered sacred sites and to find out what you can do to help, click on a place on the map above.

For detailed reports on 30 sacred places in other countries, see our map of sacred sites around the world. We also have a map of eleven sacred sites in the U.S. that are no longer directly threatened, summarizing the important lessons learned from the struggles.
